KIDNAPPING/FORCEFUL CONVERSION OF MINORITY HINDU COLLEGE GIRL (16) FROM MADHABDI POLICE STATION AT NORSINGDI DISTRICT BANGLADESH. Country : Bangladesh. Act : Right to religion and right to integrity. Crime : Kidnapping and forceful conversion. Name of the victim : Sreemoti Puza Rani Ghosh (16) Date of birth: 01.08.2001. Name of father: Sujit Kumar Ghosh, Name of mother: Ms.Biva Rani Ghosh. Permanent Address : Village : Gopaldi Bazar, Arai Hazar P.S. District-Narayangonj, Bangladesh. Names of the perpetrators: 1) Mohammad Faruk, 2) Mohammad Harun, 3) Mohammad Alamgir, 4) Mohammad Arif, 5) Md. Sabuj and more 2 to 3 unidentified perpetrators. Date of investigation: 16th July 2018 at about 12 a.m. CASE IN BRIEF : Hindu victim girl went to “RATHA JATRA” with her relations with a view to enjoy puja and other functions on 14.07.2018 at about 5.30 p.m. some noted perpetrators belonging to Muslim community most illegally kidnapped the victim, the victim cried but the perpetrators hurriedly took her away and decamped towards an unknown destination. The nearest relatives of the victim tried to trace their girl but not having been traceable became astonished and cried loudly for the rescue of the victim, who is reportedly a student of Nazrul Islam Babu College 1st year at Arai Hazar P.S. Narayangonj District of Bangladesh. LEGAL ACTION :- Prodip Ghosh – maternal uncle of the victim lodged First information report (FIR) at Madhabdi police station with the help of Adv.Rabindra Ghosh and other Human rights activists of BDMW on 17th July 2018 against those 1) Mohammad Faruk, 2) Mohammad Harun, 3) Mohammad Alamgir, 4) Mohammad Arif, 5) Md. Sabuj and more 2 to 3 unidentified perpetrators. Police preliminarily neglected to record the case in our presence, but with the intervention of Addl. S.P. Norsingdi District the police entertained recording the case. Police could not rescue the victim girl nor they arrested perpetrators till writing of this report. INVESTIGATION : – I, Adv. Rabindra Ghosh, Rabindra Nath Baral Rabin, Goutam Roy, Dilip Kumar Ray of Bangladesh Minority Watch visited the spot, talked with local witnesses, talked with O.C. Madhabdi PS, Md. Abul Kalam ( OC. Investigation) Mobile No. 01769692371 and 01714083824. We also talked with Mizanur Rahman, S.I. of police who has been entrusted with the duty to investigate the matter, but Mizanur Rahman was so negligent about his duties and responsibilities. He also requested the complainant not to mention many perpetrators rather than one perpetrator. We protested at the police station for his such discriminatory treatment being a Sub Inspector of Police of Madhabdi P.S. RECOMMENDATIONS : – BANGLADESH MINORITY WATCH is very much concerned about kidnapping and forceful conversion of minority Hindu girl. BDMW demand the perpetrators responsible for such crime should be arrested soon. The minor victim should be rescued and be produced before the court for ascertaining the age of the girl whether she is minor or major. The Government of Bangladesh ratified the International protocol and should abide by the rights of minorities.
